MotoGP: Marc Marquez Wins Aragon Grand Prix

Marquez Takes Aragon Crown

Marc Marquez has taken victory by 0.6 seconds ahead of Pecco Bagnaia in the MotoGP race at MotorLand Aragon. Maverick Viñales was 3rd. The Repsol Honda rider started from pole position and led for the majority of the race. Bagnaia of Ducati had got the better of Marquez off the start but couldn't stay in front for long. Aleix Espargaro of Aprilia was in contention for long but ended in fourth place due to tire issues.

Marquez's Stellar Season Continues

This is Marquez's 5th win of the 2022 season, and he now leads the championship standings by 23 points over Bagnaia. This victory sees Marquez make it three wins in a row, having also won the previous two races at Misano and Austria.

Bagnaia's Title Bid Takes a Hit

Bagnaia's second-place finish is his first podium since the Dutch TT in June, but he will be disappointed not to have taken the win today. The Italian rider had closed the gap to Marquez in the championship standings to just 22 points, but Marquez's victory today has extended that gap to 45 points.

Viñales' Resurgence Continues

Viñales' third-place finish is his second podium in a row, and he is now up to sixth in the championship standings. The Spaniard has been in impressive form since joining Aprilia at the start of the season, and he will be hoping to continue his good form in the remaining races of the season.

Espargaro's Title Hopes Dented

Espargaro's fourth-place finish is a disappointing result for the Aprilia rider. He had been in contention for the win for much of the race, but he dropped back in the closing stages due to tire issues. Espargaro is now third in the championship standings, 53 points behind Marquez.
